RL with Ange

[ As soon as Ange had been able to get a worldhop, Yuri had prepared for her. Her discussion with Battler... hadn't really started or ended well, so she was definitely more down than she should've been for Ange coming over, but she wasn't going to bring that up if she could avoid it. Somehow she had her doubts that Ange was just going to let it go, but..

She would still try to smile. That was what made someone human, right? The ability to keep smiling, even after tons of bad things had happened. Yuri wasn't going to let it get to her. Not if she could help it. Ange just got back from the dead and was, somehow, alive. She didn't need to deal with Yuri's problems on top of that.

Of course, the waiting game was another thing that involved gratuitous interest in her laptop. Tetris was, after all, the most fun one could have without internet access (beside the community, of course) while looking like they were actually working on something intense. ]

That part still doesn't sound too bad. It isn't much different from Battler onii-chan and my world, right? Almost everyone is either dead or fake there, too.

There are a lot of similarities. There's a lot more to risk in your guys' world though.

Yeah, of course. Because unlike you guys, we won't just be revived if we're killed. [ ... o.. h.. wait. ] Well, I'm a special case, and I'm not even sure how that happened, but it's an exception to the rule.

I wonder if you were actually there the first time... I mean, it's kind of like virtual reality right? Since everyone there is.. None of them are actually alive, but from what I understand they're all like pieces on a gameboard now there? So it'd be like you were there, but your body was home the entire time like a VR game.

Or that's just totally insane but it's the best idea I could come up with.

[ Ahaha, no, Yuri, that's actually.. sadly close to the truth, in a way.. ]

... Hey, Yuri. I don't think Battler onii-chan knows, or.. at least, I'm not sure, but.. in a way, I'm nothing more than some sort of VR simulation, really. I'm the possibility of what 'Ange' would be like if she grew up all alone, nothing more than that. If Battler wins the game, he'll go home to the six year old Ange and there will be no use for me, so I'll probably just disappear.

[tenminutes]

[ Yuri shakes her head. ]

You're not a VR simulation. You exist, completely. [ She's already got what makes a person made out okay? ]

Like that Battler from the future that I talked to a while ago. He's not Battler, he's a different person because he'll have gone through different things. That Battler hadn't even spoken to me since.. the third game I think? Something like that. So just by being around me and the community, things are different. The Battler here will never have those conversations with me.

[ Which is good, those were a little embarrassing. ]

It doesn't mean that that guy wasn't real, it just means he's a different person than Battler. It's the same reason that even if I could give up my memories, I would never do so willingly just to be happier. You're not a possibility, you're an actuality. You just exist in a different actuality than Battler does, because you want to save the Ange in Battler's actuality from going through the same thing you did.

Trust me, the community pulled some shit where another me was brought here for a while and Battler used some of his r-- anyway, Battler couldn't prove that what I was experiencing wasn't real. It was just another version of me, but not me. So it's entirely possible. You exist no matter what, and if you feel like you're going to disappear then you can come stay with me. I'm pretty good at fighting disappearing.

[ Yuri, your logic and speeches, why.. ]

No, I.. definitely don't exist completely the way other people do. Or rather, I do exist, but it's just as a piece on the gameboard. That gameboard is my 'actuality', so when the game is ended and the gameboard disappears, the same will happen to me.

I am just a piece, and as a piece it's my role to disappear once the game itself is over and disappears too, that's what they told me. This is a game I can't lose, and yet even if I win, or help Battler onii-chan win, I won't be rewarded. Not this me. I'm a piece brought in to end this game, yet if I end it I'll end myself too.. I still remember the day that witch came to me and told me.. "Your existence is a contradiction. Your reason for existing is to bury yourself in the darkness and despair."

[ She glances sideways at Yuri, on her face a somewhat bitterly ironic smile. ]

So I'm pretty sure I'll end up needing to stay with you then, huh..?

[tenminutes]

No, you were a piece the first time. This time you were alive in your original reality and had to worldhop over via community worldhops right? It's just like being in a parallel universe.

...Anyway, truth is pretty subjective if someone else can tell you your reason for existing. Especially since it can change. It already has right? Since you gained access to the community, you've got other reasons to keep living.

[ Yuri reaches over and puts her hand on Ange's head. Are you ready for this? She ruffles her hair. YES RUFFLES HER HAIR. Enjoy your messed up hair. ] You can always come here if you still need to.

I don't even know if it's that clear-cut, for all we know some other witch-- [ gjfjgdfgkjdf okay, no, she can't finish that sentence since she's being hairruffled.. yuri onee-chan why..!! ]

At least make sure to keep an extra uniform for me around, then, it might be more likely that I'll need it than you think.

Don't care. You're the only Ange I know and even if I ever meet little six-year-old Ange, it'd never be the same person as you. You exist, deal with it and stop arguing with me or I'll make you wear the regular students' uniform.

Singling me out already, huh? [ Ange would be a super badass SSS member though okay.. but alas..

But okay, after that joke she does sober up again slightly. ]

Fine, I guess I'll just have to try and do my best to keep existing.

Of course you will. No one in the afterlife gets to be here because they wanted to stop existing. So you'd better keep up the kind of attitude where you want to.

I want to keep on living. I don't want to die just yet, not while I can be with Battler onii-chan and you and everyone else. If I was alone again, it'd be a different case, but..
