I don't want to be alone again.

[ Her voice came out small and as she said it, she turned so she could wrap her own arms around Battler, burying her face in his neck. She wouldn't cry. If he was here, even though everything inside of her felt like everyone was being torn away from her.. if Battler was here it'd be okay, right? Battler and all of her friends on the community... ]

Don't leave me alone.

[ Even though it was a demand, her words didn't come out as instructive as they normally would have. The vaguest hint of a plea scratched at the back of her throat. She didn't want him to leave. Ever. But if she had to just settle for tonight, then... ]

[This is so different than what he's used to... she's usually so strong, she usually has everything together, but it seems like the idea of being left alone isn't like anything she's ever experienced before. He simply holds her, and he closes his eyes as he mulls things over.]

I won't leave you.

[He has to go back to his world eventually, but for tonight he'll stay with her. She's desperately wanting to save him, and yet in order to do that she'll have to stay behind while everyone else moves on... he's so pathetic in that sense. He wonders though, if she does eventually get to move on... then that means he'll be the one left alone.

Such thoughts frighten him, and he squeezes her a little bit more at the idea.]

[ But it is something she's experienced before. She knows what it feels like to have people you truly care about taken away from you. She knows what it's like to be happy one day and then be completely alone every day after that. Except this time it isn't sudden. It isn't wrong. The only things in common are going to be that she's the only one left, all alone, and that there's nothing she could do about it.

Helpless. Useless. Every time she tried to save or help Battler, it was just shoved in her face more that she could never do anything. Against Naoi, she was the one who needed to be saved. Against the evil Angel, she'd been the one to come limping back to the group and when she'd finally found a way to do something there, the repercussions managed to break even what she'd thought was possible in the afterlife and put a girl in a coma.

That pain was settling in again and the only way to stop it would be to be the bad guy, which isn't something she can do to them. That's the problem with caring too much. It mean you let go when you know you're doing more harm than good. ]

[ She'd figured that out a while ago, but she'd never once told him. With everything feeling like it was slipping away... she wanted him to at least know. At least to hear it from her, if he already did know. Just in case she couldn't save him, like she couldn't hold onto anyone else, at least... At least he'd know. ]

[He knew that she had feelings for him, that much was painfully obvious. Still, he had never heard her mention such a thing to him, so upon hearing those words spoken to him Battler's eyes went a little wide. His gaze went downward, looking at her form as she held him. She really was.... hurting badly, wasn't she? It was useless, so damn useless. He couldn't do anything to heal her besides stay with her like this and tell her it'll be alright.

Battler's heart clenched when he thought about this, and he relaxed a bit more from his tensed state. What could he do...? He needed to think more about this. He didn't want her to disappear, and she didn't want to be alone... in the end though, they can never truly be together. This is nothing more than a temporary relationship, she'll eventually disappear and he'll go on living without her.

What a joke.]

I love you too.

[He would need to speak to someone about this, he had an idea. Perhaps... even after she disappears there was some insurance that she'll still be Yuri... it would be better. Maybe Bern will have some insight about this.]

[ Yuri stays quiet for a good while after that, just holding onto him without letting go. Somehow even if her insides felt like they were screaming and he heart wanted to stop, just hearing Battler's words calmed her just a tiny bit. She almost said it again, just so that he would say it back once more like a magical healing spell, but that would be silly.

Yuri knew she'd need it a lot more the more that this situation went on. She didn't know if the magic would wear off. She hoped it never would, but it wasn't something she'd felt before. Those three words, when she hated hearing them before when she still wanted to refuse him, she loved them almost as much as she loved him. ]

Everyone's talking about wedding's lately... Too bad you can't marry dead people. [ She's trying to joke, at least. To lighten the mood. It won't make her feel better, but she's hoping it'll make Battler feel better. If she can see him smile then maybe she might be able to smile back. ]

[If he knew that she wanted it to be said more, he would repeat it over and over, he's not afraid to show his emotions like this. He cares for her more than anything, he'd do anything for her, and the fact that she's hurting.... dammit, it pisses him off so much.

But he does offer a tiny smile at her words.]

I could, but then I'd probably be arrested.

Gross, I can't believe my boyfriend's a necrophiliac.

[ Yuri smiles back. It's a tired smile, but it's still a smile. Even with all this going on, she still wants to see the people she cares about happy. That's probably why she hasn't gone out and kicked Otonashi's ass in the first place. She knows it's right and that it's the only way to make sure they're smiling for real. ]

Magic yourself pajamas already. [ She doesn't want to let go and that might be kind of a problem if he tried to change manually. ]

[Oh fine fine, he snaps his fingers and soon that cape of his, along with his suit, have disappeared. They've been replaced with a tank top and some pajama bottoms it seems.]

There, is this better?

[ Yuri nods. Even though she knows Battler could easily teleport out of there or snap his fingers and get his clothes back on, seeing him ready for bed and not at all ready to leave is comforting. He's staying here. Yuri likes that. ]

A lot better. [ She pauses for a moment. Maybe they should just stay up all night. Even if she was tired... ] Are you going to be gone when I wake up?

[he shakes his head a little.]

I have to go back eventually but... I won't leave right away either.

I know. [ Should she say it? It's too corny, too cliche, too embarrassing but... Yuri's voice lowers to a mutter. ] I just don't want to wake up and you're gone, so even if you have to leave after that I don't care.

[you're talking to the master of corny lines. Battler smiles at that though.]

I won't leave until you're awake.

[ And yet they still make her feel embarrassed. Which might be why she feels the need to follow up with a much ruder comment. ]

If you did I'd have to come hunt you down and then the witches would get all depressed because you got killed by your girlfriend instead of while doing something in their game.

[Battler chuckles a bit at that, and now he moves her from his lap so he can crawl into bed properly.]

Hey hey, no fair! That would be cheating-!

[ I-mon flutters off of the pillow as Battler starts getting into the bed and goes to land on Yuri's head. ]

Your bed is probably way more comfortable since these are just twin-sized school beds, so no complaining about it.

[ Yuri reaches up to shoo I-mon off, then lays down with Battler. ]

[That damn butterfly...

In any case, once she lays down with him he's just turning to look at her, grinning.]

Can I tell people we slept together?

Sure, if we ever actually have sex no one will believe you if we tell everyone every time we sleep together.

[ Yuri pulls the blankets up to her chin, keeping her eyes on him the whole time. ]

How many times has it been now....?

This is only the second. Last time was on the floor, looks like you've been promoted.

So what will the next time be?

[Battler is pulling up the covers too, making himself comfortable.]

Next time I'll get promoted instead and just sleep on top of you and you can be the only one on the bed.

[ For now, though, she's scooting a little closer to Battler. ]

And then the fun can really begin~!

[He's just smiling at her as he watches her move closer.]

What kind of fun do you think you're going to be having while I'm asleep anyway?

[ She finds a comfortable spot and stays there, looking up at him. ]

You can't sleep on top of me, you're too big.

Rude.... you're so rude!

How is that rude? You're at least two heads taller than me and a lot bulkier. Don't blame me because you were taking all those weird "mail order" drugs.
