I wonder if you were actually there the first time... I mean, it's kind of like virtual reality right? Since everyone there is.. None of them are actually alive, but from what I understand they're all like pieces on a gameboard now there? So it'd be like you were there, but your body was home the entire time like a VR game.

Or that's just totally insane but it's the best idea I could come up with.
